Welcome to the Project Portfolio Office

The Project Portfolio Office (PPO) was established in 2015, with the purpose to coordinate, oversee and provide stewardship of IT related portfolio management, project management and governance processes.  The PPO forms part of the Office of the CTO and is a centre of excellence for these areas both within Information Technology Services (ITS) and across the college.  The objective of the PPO is to improve project, portfolio and governance practices in order to

  • Better align project activity with college strategy and investments
  • Ensure resources are going to the right projects at the right time
  • Provide executive visibility to project and portfolio-level status including schedule, costs, quality, issues, risks, metrics.
  • Increate likelihood of successful projects by lowering risk
  • Improve efficiency and effectiveness of those involved in projects
  • Improve collaboration and sharing of knowledge and best practices

Our Services

IT Governance
Project and Portfolio Governance.  Strategic support for project scoring, selection and prioritization within the  IT portfolio. Direct oversight of all projects within the IT portfolio, including regular project reviews to ensure project management quality
and successful delivery.

Project Portfolio Management & Reporting
Team Dynamix (TDX) is NC's integrated project and portfolio management tool.

Project and Portfolio Methodology and Processes 
Establish and maintain both the Project and Portfolio Management methodologies including processes, procedures and templates.

Project Management
Assignment of project managers to college IT initiatives based on project needs and complexity

Project Management Support & Guidance
Support and mentoring of project managers through on-going training initiatives, including coaching and mentoring with a goal of improving project outcomes while advancing project management competency.  Manage knowledge repository for best practices, procedures, templates, lessons learned.

Business Requirements and Analysis
Identifying and documenting business requirements, identifying new opportunities, understanding required capabilities, business case creation, Feasibility studies and assisting in IT software evaluation and implementation

Process Analysis and Improvement
Identification and documentation of current and future state business processes, opportunities for process improvement
